Bodrum to Ephesus Tour

Welcome to our Ephesus tour from Bodrum. I hope you are ready for a beautiful day full of history, culture, and ancient ruins.

We are leaving Bodrum now and heading toward Ephesus, one of the most famous ancient cities in Turkey.

The drive will take a few hours, so please sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery.

As we leave Bodrum, you will see the beautiful Aegean coast and the countryside of western Turkey.

Today, we are traveling through an area that was very important in the ancient world. This region was home to many different civilizations, including the Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines.

After our drive, we will arrive at Ephesus.

Welcome to Ephesus

Welcome to Ephesus Ancient City!

Ephesus was one of the most important cities of the ancient world.

At its peak, it was a large and wealthy city with a population of more than 100,000 people.

The city was especially important during the Roman period because of its location and its connection to the Aegean Sea.

Now, let's start our walk.

The Library of Celsus

One of the first places we will see is the famous Library of Celsus.

Look at the beautiful columns and statues on the front of the building.

This library was built in the 2nd century AD in memory of Celsus, a Roman governor.

The library once held thousands of scrolls.

Imagine people coming here almost 2,000 years ago to read, study, and learn.

Today, the Library of Celsus is one of the most recognizable monuments of Ephesus.

The Curetes Street

Now we are walking along Curetes Street.

This was one of the main streets of ancient Ephesus.

Look at the marble road beneath your feet.

On both sides, there were shops, houses, fountains, and public buildings.

This was a very busy street in ancient times.

Imagine walking here with hundreds of people around you—merchants selling their products, people going to the marketplace, and visitors coming from different parts of the ancient world.

The Great Theater

And now we are coming to the Great Theater of Ephesus.

This is one of the most impressive structures in the city.

The theater could hold around 25,000 people.

It was used for plays, concerts, public meetings, and political events.

This theater is also connected with Saint Paul and the early history of Christianity.

Just imagine standing here almost 2,000 years ago and looking at a crowd of thousands of people.

The Temple of Artemis

Ephesus was also famous for the Temple of Artemis.

Artemis was an important Greek goddess, and her temple was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Unfortunately, very little of the original temple remains today.

But during ancient times, it was a huge and magnificent building that attracted visitors from many different places.

Terrace Houses

If you are interested in how wealthy people lived, the Terrace Houses are especially interesting.

These were beautiful private homes belonging to wealthy families.

Inside, you can see mosaics, frescoes, marble floors, and private rooms.

These houses show us that ancient Ephesus was not only a city of temples and public buildings. It was also a place where people lived comfortable and luxurious lives.

The Ancient Public Toilets

And here we have something that usually makes visitors smile—the ancient public toilets!

These toilets were located close to the public baths.

People would sit next to each other, and this was actually a place where people could talk and socialize.

It may look funny to us today, but in the ancient world, this was a normal part of city life.

The Temple of Hadrian

Now we are looking at the Temple of Hadrian.

This beautiful monument was dedicated to the Roman Emperor Hadrian.

Look at the details on the entrance. You can see beautiful carvings and decorations.

This is another good example of the impressive architecture of ancient Ephesus.

House of the Virgin Mary

After visiting the ancient city, we can continue to the nearby House of the Virgin Mary.

According to Christian tradition, Mary spent her final years in this area.

Today, it is an important pilgrimage site for many visitors.

People come here to pray, reflect, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

End of Our Tour

And this brings us to the end of our Ephesus tour.

Today, we walked through the streets of one of the most important cities of the ancient world.

We saw the Library of Celsus, Curetes Street, the Great Theater, the Terrace Houses, the Temple of Hadrian, and many other important monuments.

But remember, Ephesus is not only about stones and ruins.

Try to imagine the people, the shops, the markets, the theaters, and the everyday life that once filled these streets.
