  • Welcome to Perge Ancient City.

As we enter Perge, we want you to take a moment and look around. It is hard to believe that people were walking on these streets almost 2,000 years ago.

Perge was one of the most important cities of Pamphylia. It became especially important during the Hellenistic and Roman periods.

Now, let`s walk toward the main part of the city.

Here we are at the Roman Gate. This was one of the main entrances to Perge. Imagine people coming through this gate every day—merchants, travelers, soldiers, and local people.

As we continue, we reach the famous Colonnaded Street. This is probably one of the most impressive parts of Perge.

Look at these marble columns on both sides of the street. In ancient times, this was a busy place. There were shops, public buildings, and many people walking around.

And if you look carefully at the middle of the street, you can see the water channel. Water was brought through the center of the city. Imagine how beautiful and impressive this must have looked when the fountains were working and the streets were full of people.

Now let`s continue toward the Agora.

The Agora was basically the marketplace and meeting place of the city. People came here to buy and sell things, but also to meet friends and talk about everyday life.

So, in a way, this was the social center of ancient Perge.

A little farther ahead, we can see the Roman Baths.

For the Romans, a bath was not simply a place to take a bath. It was a place to relax and socialize. People could spend hours here, talking with friends, doing business, and enjoying their free time.

The baths had different rooms, including hot, warm, and cold areas.

Now, let`s move toward one of the most impressive monuments in Perge, the Ancient Theater.

The theater was used for plays, music, and public performances. Thousands of people could come here to watch a show.

Just imagine sitting here almost 2,000 years ago. There were no cars, no phones, and no modern technology. Instead, people came here to enjoy performances together.

And now, let`s take a look at the Stadium.

This was a huge place for sports competitions and public events. It could hold a very large crowd.

When you stand here, you can really understand how large and important Perge was.

Perge also has a connection with Alexander the Great. He came to this region during his famous military campaign in the 4th century BC.

Later, the city became even more important under the Roman Empire.

So, as we walk through Perge, we are actually walking through many different periods of history.

Before we finish our tour, I would like you to look once more at this long street, the columns, and the remains of the ancient buildings.

Try to imagine Perge as it once was—a lively city full of people, shops, fountains, temples, and public buildings.

Today, we see ruins. But almost 2,000 years ago, this was a living city.

And that is what makes Perge so special.

Thank you for joining me, and I hope you enjoyed our journey through ancient Perge.

Welcome to Phaselis Ancient City, one of the most beautiful ancient sites on the Mediterranean coast of Türkiye.

As we walk through the entrance, you can already feel how special this place is. Phaselis was an ancient Lycian port city, founded around the 7th century BC.

Phaselis was famous for its three natural harbors. These harbors made the city an important center for trade and transportation in ancient times.

Now, let`s walk along the ancient main street. This was one of the most important streets of the city. Imagine people walking here thousands of years ago, going to the market, the theater, or the harbor.

On both sides, you can see the remains of Roman baths, shops, and other public buildings.

Now look ahead. Here we have the Ancient Theater. It is not very large, but it gives us a great idea of what entertainment was like in ancient Phaselis. People came here to watch performances and spend time together.

One of the most interesting parts of Phaselis is the aqueduct. These large stone structures carried fresh water into the city. Even today, you can see how impressive the Roman engineering was.

    Let`s continue toward the harbor.

This area was the heart of Phaselis. Ships arrived here carrying goods, food, and other products. Because of its location, Phaselis became an important trading city between the Mediterranean and the Lycian region.

And now, take a moment to look around you.

You have the ancient ruins in front of you, the Mediterranean Sea nearby, and the Taurus Mountains behind you. This combination makes Phaselis very different from many other ancient cities.

Phaselis was later controlled by Alexander the Great and eventually became part of the Roman Empire. During the Roman period, the city became even more developed.

Today, we can walk through the same streets, see the same harbors, and imagine the life of people who lived here more than 2,000 years ago.

So, when you visit Phaselis, don`t just look at the stones.

Look at the harbors, the streets, the theater, and the aqueducts — and imagine the busy city that once stood here.

Phaselis is a place where ancient history, nature, and the Mediterranean come together.
