People visit Turkey for many reasons. Some are obvious such as the weather, beaches, hospitality, food, scenery, history and culture; others, such as skiing, boating, scuba diving, hang gliding, parasailing, walking and cycling, are less well-known. Some visitors come for business reasons or education: Turkey is an important trading partner for many countries and has a large number of foreign students too.

One of the fastest-growing Turkish attractions is superb health care. At the lower end of the scale this might just be to buy medicines much more cheaply than in their home countries or to take a ''cure'' at one of the many thermal spring spas, with first-class clinics attached. Eye care and dentistry have particular appeal. Laser eye treatment and also lens replacements can be performed by highly-skilled surgeons with no waiting and very little cost. Spectacles are a fraction of European prices, even though the frames and lenses will often be from the same manufacturers.

Dental treatment, particularly implants and bridge work, is also much less expensive than in Northern Europe and USA and again there is no waiting, although it is advisable to contact a dentist before setting off on your journey. Dentists' surgeries in Turkey are nearly all equipped with the very latest in dental technology and the dentists are highly-skilled in both remedial and cosmetic procedures. Cosmetic surgery is also very sought after by visitors and again the practitioners are highly trained. A smaller number of visitors come for major procedures such as joint replacements or heart surgery, all of which can be performed quickly and to at least the same standard and at a much lower cost than in  visitors' home countries.

There are many agencies which can arrange health care along with your holiday.
